     The Women’s Leadership Team’s desire is for God to grow a ministry to reach the women of our church and community. The legacy of those serving before us in WMU is one of strength and encouragement. Because of their love for missions, we continue to honor the memory of women like Annie Rhodes and Alice Johnson, serving Christ through mission opportunities at home and abroad.

     Our women also had a desire to come together in fellowship. Last year we celebrated our 14^th annual retreat. These retreats, along with other times of fellowship sprinkled throughout the year, provide rest and relaxation as we enjoy the fellowship of our Christian sisters. 

     “Daughters of the King’ is the ministry title God has given the women of First Baptist Church. Bringing every opportunity available for women - WMU, Bible study, Prayer, Fellowship - under one umbrella enables us to see the whole picture of women’s ministry. It will serve to bring women of every age and every walk of life together. God is so good; let’s serve Him together!

 Who is a Daughter of the King?

     Who is a Daughter of the King? She is a single mother who has found love in a Heavenly Father unlike any her earthly father ever showed to her. She is a widow who takes peace from knowing that she and her beloved will be reunited again and this separation is only for a season. She is struggling with not having the gift of children; she has two great children but lives with the secret of having aborted her first child. Her husband is a deacon; her husband is an alcoholic. She is a friend of someone you speak to every Sunday morning; she hasn’t been to church in quite a while although her name is on your Sunday school class role. She has grandchildren that she never sees; her grandchild calls her Mom. She cries herself to sleep; she has known the compassion of a good friend and wants to be that friend to someone in need. She is young with her life ahead of her; she has lived a long life and has wisdom beyond belief. She is a stay-at-home mom; she is a college student; she is the regional manager. She is you; she is me. You see, a Daughter of the King is just that, a Daughter of the King. It isn’t a club that requires invitation or dues. It is a family. And your place in our family was bought with the blood of Jesus Christ, the only Son of God our Father. Please take an active role in our family; it just won’t be complete without you.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God.
